Highlights from Summer 2015 in Mykonos

Summer in Mykonos is beginning to draw to a close, so we thought now would be the perfect time to look back and share with you some of our favourite memories from the beautiful summer of 2015 in Mykonos. We’ve had a great time this year – it’s been good fun welcoming visitors both old and new to our sea view luxury villas, rekindling old friendships and making new ones! So here’s a short list of some of the main moments in Mykonos this summer.

Shopping & Pampering in Mykonos

Mykonos is widely regarded as one of the best holiday shopping and eating destinations there is! The island’s shops have something for everyone, with an extraordinary range of clothing and fashion stores, jewellery and accessory boutiques, home decoration and furnishing stores, and shops selling unique, distinctive and stylish Mykonos souvenirs. This year saw the arrival of lots of new and exciting brands opening shops in Mykonos, with Victoria’s Secret, Lapin House children’s clothes, Le Concept Avant-Garde, IF Bags, and Iliana Bassiana to name but a few!

Restaurants in Mykonos

Mykonos is a foodie’s delight, with an amazing array of top restaurants offering cuisine to suit the most discerning of palates with sumptuous dishes inspired by cuisine from all around the world. London-based Chinese cuisine restaurant Hakkasan opened its first ever ‘Ling Ling’ restaurant in Mykonos this year, based on the ‘izakaya’ concept – serving cocktails and smaller Cantonese dishes. Also throwing open its doors for the first time in 2015 was The Scorpios Restaurant Beach Bar in Paraga, offering visitors the ultimate chilled-out relaxed location in which to enjoy some great food and drink.

Fashion in Mykonos

Mykonos is well known as the fashion mecca of the Aegean, which is unsurprising given the amazing range of luxury and high-end boutique fashion shops the island has to offer. 2015 saw Mykonos continuing to be at the forefront of cutting edge-fashion, introducing and shaping new trends and styles. At Mykonos Panormos Villas we were delighted to embrace our inner fashionistas when we got a sneak peek of some beautiful new designs when Maurizio Mykonos held a private showroom day in one of our own luxury sea view villas!

Celebrities in Mykonos

Where there’s cutting edge fashion, celebrities are rarely far behind, and this year continued to attract the creme de la creme of the world’s famous, talented and wealthy to this special little island. As you may know, Mykonos has been drawing celebrities to its beautiful shores for over half a century, and that rich tradition continues to this day. From the fashion world Olivia Palermo, Alessandra Ambrosio, Lindsay Lohan, Karen Mulder, Brian Atwood, Giancarlo Giammetti and Valentino all enjoyed the sparkling wonders Mykonos has to offer this year. Those wishing to enjoy a more private relaxed holiday away from the glare of the spotlight and camera lens need only remember that Mykonos Panormos Villas has a great secluded location in which to unwind and lay back away from it all.

Parties in Mykonos

Mykonos is a great place to party, and 2015 was no exception! In April, Mykonos was chosen by Business Insider as one of the ‘25 Places to Party Before You Die’ on their ‘bucket list’. Despite some negative and inaccurate media reporting about the effects of capital controls in Greece, this year saw the same busy and hectic summer party scene in Mykonos as always. In fact, we actually produced a blog post to debunk the myths about the effects of capital controls for holidays in Mykonos. The island was very much open for business this year! Two new clubs launched in Little Venice bringing a slice of the London clubbing magic to Mykonos. The new Project Mykonos nightclub is the sister club to the world-famous Project London club in Fitzrovia, while the Toy Room private club from Mayfair now has its own Mykonos venue too. In July, Greek music star Antonis Remos gave a special live performance alongside Dany Brillant at the Nammos beach restaurant on Psarou Beach. The 19th to the 23rd of August saw us welcome visitors from around the world for the 7th annual XLSIOR festival. We celebrated Mykonos’ reputation as one of the best gay-friendly holiday destinations in Europe with incredible partying as around 30,000 visitors to the island arrived for the Number One International Circuit Party of the Year!

Food in Mykonos

We were absolutely thrilled earlier this year to announce that “The Cooking Odyssey” had chosen Mykonos Panormos Villas to film parts for the 3rd Season of its show. “The Cooking Odyssey” is a how-to cookery show produced by the US public broadcaster PBS and aired on the Create TV channel. It showcases the wonders of the Greek cuisine and the Mediterranean diet by journeying all around Greece. For Season 3, “The Cooking Odyssey” and chef Michalis Nourloglou used the fully equipped kitchen of one of our luxury 4 bedroom private pool villas to film all the cooking segments of the show in. It was a really exciting experience for us to host a TV crew, and see some delicious dishes being prepared and cooked, though we must confess we are already a bit spoiled when it comes to mouth-watering meals, with our own private chef Kimberly at Mykonos Panormos Villas available to be booked to produce some exquisite dishes on request!

Boutique Design Villas in Mykonos

In mid-September we got a lovely surprise message drop into our inbox when we were told that the home design website Houzz had chosen to feature our Anassa Residence and Guesthouse in an editorial on the Italian part of their site. Houzz is a website community made up of over 35 million homeowners, design enthusiasts, and interior designers that showcases the most beautiful houses and interiors as inspiration resources. It was a real honour for us to be featured on Houzz, and a wonderful reward for all the hard work and care we had put into creating a luxury villa design which combined the best elements of traditional Cycladic architecture with minimalist design touches and unusual antique furnishings.

Panormos Villa TripAdvisor Reviews

Looking back over the year, we were truly thrilled that so many of our guests had taken the time to give us some fantastic reviews on TripAdvisor. We were absolutely honoured by some of the kind words we read and to know that our visitors appreciated our efforts to make everyone’s stay as relaxing and enjoyable as possible. One guest described Mykonos Panormos Villas as being “excellent in every aspect”, with a “very beautiful” location, and thought the three bedroom villa with private pool where he and his family stayed was “a joy”. Guests also wrote that they “found a different island” while staying with us in Panormos, as they were able to get away from the hustle and bustle of the town and chill out and relax. We were even called the “perfect place to stay when visiting Mykonos”! Our villas were described as “a must stay place”, with guests remarking they “had an incredible time” and congratulated us on our “fantastic service”. One guest remarked that “Nothing seemed to ever be too much trouble”and we wholeheartedly agree – we always strive to do absolutely anything we can to make your stay as enjoyable as possible! So thank you so much to all our guests who left us such wonderful reviews, it was an absolute pleasure to welcome you to Mykonos, and we hope to see you again soon!

As you can see, this summer has been a busy and crazy one for us here at Mykonos Panormos Villas! As always, Mykonos has delivered as a great fun summer holiday destination. We’ve shopped, we’ve eaten, we’ve dressed up, rubbed shoulders with the rich and famous, and partied all day and all night! We’ve welcomed a US TV crew and nationally renowned chef, and been acclaimed for the amazing architecture and design of our villas. Best of all, we’ve had great feedback and kind words from those who matter most to us – our visitors.
